The need to go outside of your comfort zone and experience something new is so overwhelming that it takes over everything else, no matter how scared you are or how much anxiety there might be surrounding this trip. This feeling that we get whenever we think about the trip has many names: The travel bug, Wanderlust, and the Gypsy Spirit. But what is it that causes this feeling in us? Why do we feel the need to travel?
1. To Discover Who We Are
Many people travel to find themselves. They go out and explore the world because they want to see what they truly love and what will make them happy because it’s easy to forget about yourself when you live your life so fast-paced. Sometimes taking time off of work is all that’s needed for someone to find out what their passions in life are.
2. To Escape From Reality
When life gets tough or we feel disappointed in ourselves, it’s nice to be able to escape from our normal lives. No matter what it is that you are escaping from, there is always something out there waiting for you. This could be a natural disaster or the stress of living in a busy city, but sometimes all people need is some time away to get their head straight again.
3. To See The World
This one is pretty self-explanatory. People travel to see everything that the world has to offer. From ancient ruins to the tallest mountain peaks, there is so much to see and explore out there!
4. To Meet New People
One of the best things about travel is that you get to meet new people from all walks of life. Whether you are on a tour or just out for dinner, you never know who you’re going to meet. These people can teach you so much about their culture and what it’s like to live in their corner of the world.
5. To Experience New Things
Traveling allows you to try out new activities such as surfing, hiking, and scuba diving. There’s nothing like exploring a whole new world of things that interest you!

Travelling allows us to visit places that are not so accessible to everyone. It can be challenging for some people, but it’s worth it in the end! Travelling can help us break down our own barriers and help us to appreciate what we have.
9. To Be Selfless
The world is a big place with billions of people living in it. Taking the time to visit different countries helps you to understand more about how these places work, their cultures, etc., and it also gives the people living there a reason to smile. Even if it’s a small gesture, it can make a world of difference!
10. To Broaden Your Knowledge
There is so much out there for us to learn and experience. We only have one life after all, so why not spend as much time as possible learning new things? Whether this applies to history or the architecture of the buildings you are walking by, there is always something new to learn about.
11. To Experience Happiness
When all else fails, traveling will make you happy. No matter what kind of mood you’re in, just seeing a different landscape can be enough to change it around completely! There is nothing more exciting than seeing a new place and making memories that last forever.
12. To Be Present
Being in the ‘now’ is one of the most important things you can achieve in life. Being mindful and taking time to appreciate what’s around you can help you to become more grateful for your surroundings and the people who are with you. A lot of the time, as we grow up and become an adult, we lose contact with who we really are. Traveling is like therapy; it helps us to clear our minds. It gives us time to reflect on the past and look forward to the future. Traveling helps us to find ourselves again and allows us to go back to our roots. often see things that remind us of our childhood or experiences we had growing up, which can help us to understand who we are as a person.
